Donate today to help keep The Diamondback strong.

The Diamondback is the University of Maryland’s independent student newspaper established in 1910. Because we are 100% financially independent from the university we are able to report fearlessly on the campus and city without concern for censorship or bias. We are sure that you understand that even small community newspapers like The Diamondback are very expensive to operate at the high level we all expect. The limited amount of advertising we are able to sell does not come even close to covering all of our operating expenses so the generous donations of our readers, alumni, parents and community members is very much needed and appreciated.

Excellence in journalism is requires long hours and sacrifice. Our students are paid and the primary use of your generous donation will be toward their compensation.

Your donation will help in so many ways, including:

Student salaries — the largest part of our annual operating expense
The purchase up-to-date equipment
Travel expenses for our students to attend conferences, road games, etc.
Continued development of our multiple digital platforms for desktop and mobile
